Sophie Tucker began selling shea kernels at the village market in Bounty, Sierra Leone in 1912. At age 19, a widow and mother of four was selling shea butter, African black soap and household products for hair and skin all over town. Sophie Tucker was our grandmother and SheaMoisture is her legacy. Through community commerce, you help empower disadvantaged women to achieve a brighter, healthier future.
